Baianas" are always part of the parade of a samba school during Carnival. A woman born in the Brazilian state of Bahia is a "Baiana". At the end of the nineteenth century, some Baianas moved from Bahia to Rio de Janeiro, and played a major role in the birth of samba schools. That´s why they remain legendary and continue to be honoured during Brazil's most famous festival. The orange background sets the scene for this Baiana: she has a huge skirt, she's glowing, she's having the time of her life! Inspired by Brazil, inspired by Australia.
"Orange Baiana", original oil dot painting by Flavia Julius.
High quality stretched Australian made polyester canvas with thick sides, painted orange to match the artwork.
