Baianas" are always part of the parade of a samba school during Carnival. A woman born in the Brazilian state of Bahia is a "Baiana". At the end of the nineteenth century, some Baianas moved from Bahia to Rio de Janeiro, and played a major role in the birth of samba schools. That´s why they remain legendary and continue to be honoured during Brazil's most famous festival. This Baiana is delightful, happy and gorgeous. Inspired by Brazil, inspired by Australia.
"Baiana", original oil dot painting by Flavia Julius.
Stretched canvas with thick sides, painted purple to match the artwork.
